2018 NFL Draft Day 1: Four QBs In Top Ten, Big Time Trades And Goodell Hears The Boos

This year, the NFL Draft took place deep in the heart of Texas, as Jerry Jones hosted the annual event at AT&T Stadium, home to the Dallas Cowboys. The night started with the usual boos directed towards NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, which is no surprise as Cowboys’ fans are probably still angry about the Ezekial Elliott suspension, among other issues with Dallas. Even having Cowboy legends Troy Aikman, Jason Witten, and Roger Staubach on stage with him couldn’t quiet the crowd.

As the draft started, the Cleveland Browns were on the clock with their first of two top four picks. Despite failing with quarterback top picks in the past, the Browns figure that in 2018 they will finally get it right. Despite trading for former Buffalo Bills signal-caller Tyrod Taylor in the off-season, they rolled the dice and drafted Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield number one overall.

The New York Giants were up next and they went with the player many said was the best in the draft, Penn State running back Saquon Barkley, who was also celebrating the birth of his daughter earlier in the week. The New York Jets had the number three pick and they went with who they hope to be their quarterback of the future, USC’s Sam Darnold. The Cleveland Browns were back at pick 4, and they chose to address their defense, grabbing Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward. The Denver Broncos wrapped up the top 5 by picking North Carolina State defensive end, Bradley Chubb.
