Believe it or not, Hulkamania may soon be running wild once again in the WWE. According to TMZ Sports, the Hulkster is in serious talks with the WWE about a return to the WWE Universe. In fact, there was a discussion about Hogan being part of the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia, especially after a member of the royal family personally requested that he be part of it. While Hogan was not brought back for the event, the idea that he may be part of future events is very real.
Hogan has been away from the WWE since 2015, after a leaked sex tape he was part of revealed him using derogatory racial terms, he was fired and removed from the WWE Hall of Fame. Since then, Hogan has apologized and many African-American wrestlers have offered their support.
At this point, the only thing apparently stopping the return is the WWE wanting to do it “the right way,” whatever that means. While many people would love to see Hogan back in the company, it is very important that the company does it while minimizing the backlash. The WWE is already under fire for a few of their recent decisions involving female competitors, including originally naming the Wrestlemania Battle Royal in honor of the controversial Fabulous Moolah and allowing Saudi Arabi a major event despite them refusing to allow women to compete.
Update: Since the release of the TMZ Sports story, the WWE has released the following statement:
“WWE applauds the work Hulk Hogan is doing with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to turn what was a negative into a positive by helping young people learn from his mistake. While he has taken many steps in the right direction since we parted ways, Hogan is not currently under contract to WWE.”
So, What you gonna do if Hulkamania is back, Jack?
